About Us

Friends of Cibola National Wildlife Refuge was established in 2018. Originally developed amongst a few friends with a common goal in mind, to help assist the local refuge and surrounding areas. Not many people know that there are approximately 568+ National Wildlife refuges nationwide with only "185 Refuge Friends organizations supporting 280 wildlife refuges and wetland management districts". according to the USFWS (https://rb.gy/ewwj1x).
Did you know that we are a 501c3 non-profit organization? Meaning that we have a tax-exempt status from the IRS so that any money that you give us is tax deductible. In addition, we are also registered with the Arizona Corporation Commission. Our bylaws, IRS letter of determination, minutes from our board of directors' meetings, partnership agreement with the Department of Interior & U.S Fish & Wildlife can be found on our legal documents page.

Our Directors

John Rosenfeld

Hi, my name is John Rosenfeld. I am retired and I have owned a place in Cibola since 1999. Prior to the inception of the Friend’s group, I spent my time on the refuge as a volunteer. Along with Mike Tommaney, Andy Anderson, and myself, we created the Friend’s group in 2018. I have served as the President since the inception of the Friend’s group and have been very grateful for being re-elected by the membership. In my spare time you can find me working around the house, hunting or fishing. If you were to ask me what I am the most passionate about regarding the Friend’s group, I would have to say that it is helping to do educational outreach events such as the annual Jr. Waterfowl camp and most recently the Youth fishing clinic.

Rebecca Notarangelo

Hi, my name is Rebecca Notarangelo. I am a local native of Cibola and have been a Friend’s member since 2019. Ever since I joined, I have always helped assist in the workdays. I love nature and in my spare time you can find me either kayaking or birding on the Goose Loop Auto Tour. I have been a director since January 14th of 2023 and have been serving as the Vice President. If you were to ask me what I am the most passionate about regarding the Friend’s group, I would have to say that it is the continual growth we constantly strive for and getting to meet new faces along the way.

Andy Anderson

Hi, my name is Andy Anderson. I am a local native of Blythe, CA and have been a Friend’s member since its inception and a director since February 19th of 2018. In my spare time I love driving the Goose Loop Auto Tour, the Refuge and visiting other locals as well. During the hunting season you can usually find me at the Unit 2 area. If you were to ask me what I am the most passionate about regarding the Friend’s group, I would have to say that it is the committed continued efforts in improving habitat and helping assist the conservation efforts with wildlife.
